DVD's
Ever since I realized that going to thrift stores was really fun, I have accumulated a collection of DVDs I find there. I'd generally just pop in, check to see if I fancy any movie I see or would like to keep around just in case I can't watch it online anymore. Also just a disclaimer I haven't actually watched a majority of these yet so if I don't have much to say about them then I'm sorry.
Chicken Run
Gotta be honest, haven't seen this one yet, just got it cause I heard from the friend that Curse of the Were-Rabbit was good said it was good so I guess I gotta watch it someday
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Gotta rewatch this someday...
The LEGO Batman Movie
I have seen this movie like 11 times at this point probably, idk if you told me I did I'd believe you on the spot. This movie's just really funny and charming and also has the best Batman and I'm not even a Batman fan. Couldn't really say much about it in comparison to The Lego Movie as I haven't seen it as many times but I'd say they're both real good, hard recommend.
Madagascar
I don't know if this movie has that mixed of a reception nowadays, but I'm really fond of this movie. I remember watching the first part of the movie over and over again in the car since we had one of those cars with tvs to watch movies in the back at the time and I would rewind to the beginning once thay start exploring the island for some reason, maybe I was scared to start feeling emotions at the climax. But yeah I love this movie a lot, the bits when the animation just gets really screwball and slapstick in the background is such a joy to watch and there are some really good jokes in there. I really love this movie even if there's a lot of nostalgia tied to it.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
If Madagascar is a movie I'm willing to accept that someone may not really enjoy, then Madagascar: Escaape 2 Africa is a game that I'm not willing to let someone just brush off because this movie is legit really great. There are so many good jokes that land at such a constant rate sometimes and it's fun to watch the stories of the main cast unfold, maybe not Marty's but the rest is still enjoyable. Also have I mentioned that this movie is REALLY funny like it's legit really funny. Hard reccommend if you've dismissed this as derivative and possibly worse than the first I will find where you live and force you to watch this movie.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
As someone who feels they can't really truly appreciate more subtle details of media, such as deep and intricate stories, I tend to gravitate to movies that are just really whacky and funny, and the Holy Grail is the embodiment of that sentiment. This movie is so fucking funny, like not even a minute in this movie is already choking me on it's humor. It's that typical Monty Python humor at it's finest. I couldn't describe it to you since I lack the ability to explain things like this with any confidence, so just take my word for it, it's REALLY funny. So yeah I think this movie's still on Netflix if you still got that, and yeah best movie 10/10.
Over the Hedge
This movie is pretty bonkers and I really enjoyed it. I also really like how they do the liar revealed thing where, especially with how quick the rest of the gang forgive the main two guys because like "Hey they're probably right on this". Overall good movie do watch this one.
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
You'd think being a live action version of a beloved franchise in the early 2000s wouldn't hold up that well but buddy let me tell you this movie actually slaps. The antics are wacky the humor is pretty good and it's a good time. I am now understanding I don't have that much for most of these movies but like trust me this is a good movie.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World
Yeah this movie's probably a cult classic with it's good dialogue amazing editing and funny jokes. Words words, words and letters, watch it.
Shark Tale
Dude this movie sucks, it really does. I watched this with friends because why not it's Shark Tale and it was not good. The jokes were vapid, the characters were unpleasant, the animation was just honestly pretty gross, I hate Will Smith Fish. Pretty sure the only time we laughed was when the pufferfish character, I think it was Sikes? Psychs? Idk, it was the scene where it zooms in on their face and my sister recorded it on her Snapchat. This movie gets my "You probably shouldn't watch it" seal of approval.
Shrek 2
Gotta be honest, this movie didn't do much for me. I understand it's a classic and everyone loves it and I get it completely, it just wasn't for me I suppose. I guess I didn't care much about the romance and not THAT much about the humor?? Idk you tell me.
SpongeBob SquarePants Season 3 Disc 3
Okay so I found disc 3 of season 3 of SpongeBob in a case for SpongeBob Season 1 Disc 1, don't know how that got mixed up but whatever I can watch SpongeBob now and it's pretty dope. Episodes still hold up and it's got the episode with idk Patrick so that's a plus.
Surf's Up
This is actually a really cool and unique movie as the whole thing is shot like a documentary within the world about surfing and it's very charming and entertaining so you really should go watch it it's a hidden gem.
Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Yeah this is a really dope movie. The animation is just delightful being stop-motion and all and the mystery is really fun to watch unfold. It can be funny at time, especially that one joke that was REALLY funny but usually they make the joke where it sounds like they're gonna swear but then say another word or have some object the characters have is more suggestive than if it were taken literally and like yeah I guess that's funny but I don't find it all that funny, I just find it to be a bit lame as jokes. This doesn't spoil the rest of the movie though, absolutely not, it's a great time through and through and I highly reommend.
!!!Also super big spoiler so if you haven't watched this movie don't read this please it's a really good movie but I really wanna mention a scene that was really good!!! okay so Wallace was the Were-Rabbit, oh geez, and the scene where the hunter finds out is splendid. When Wallace is transforming into it they're just terrified like a look of absolute horror, and when Wallace is transformed and hops away. they turn to Gromit and slowly morph their mortified expression into a devious grin, and in that moment without words you know what this guy is thinking and you go "oh shit this guy gonna kill Wallace" and I just really like this scene okay.
