GameCube

GameCube

Okay so I don't actually have a GameCube, just a Wii that can play GameCube games, a fact that I only realized of so agonizingly late. I remember wishing I could play GameCube games in my youth, seeing it as this mysterious line of games unobtainable for me, always wondering what they were like. I never once wondered why there was a smaller disc in the Wii disc channel but that was because it was backwards compatible with the GameCube and that at the time it wasn't even expensive I am an oblivious dumbass. So yeah I don't got much considering how expensive some games can get and how multi-platform games cost more on it.

Pac-Man World 2

Pac-Man World 2

This is the first game I got for my quote on quote GameCube and It's completely because Nitro Rad reviewed it and I thought it looked neat. So thank you Nitro Rad, you put the Rad in Nitro Rad. With that aside, I think this is one of the games of all time. The controls are very solid and some levels that played with momentum like the ice skating one and the roller blades one were really fun and I really liked the tree levels, but the overall game was just okay, not much truly awful but not much too crazy. Except the submarine, fuck the submarine. It's not too expensive though so this could make for a pretty dope addition to your collection.

Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine

Hot take probably, but this is my favorite 3D Mario game. I know the level design can be really infuriating sometimes, Pinna Park episode 8 is stupid, it takes too long to get to the challenge where you ride Yoshi on a boat and if you die in the challenge you have to reach it with Yoshi all over again, and lives are stupid, but those controls man, they are just SO TIGHT. Mario is super responsive and allows you to do some tricky malarky if you're skilled with them. You can slide on water to go fast, you can do side somersault you can jump and buffer a spin jump to do one without needing to accelerate. You can spin jump into a triple jump, you can side somersault and immediately dive to dive a great distance, the slide move is just incredibly satisfying to use. The controls singlehandedly carry this game to S tier for me. The controls are so good that I 100%ed the game twice, saying that I gotta get to 100%ing the third save. The look and sound is also really great. It's a beach vacation so they go to places like a beach, a haunted hotel, a tree village, a theme park, a nice looking cliff, it's all very distinct yet all very fitting of the beach theme. The music's also pretty bopping. But yeah I'd say this is the best 3D Mario, I can understand why people wouldn't consider it, but it's the funnest to me, more fun than Galaxy that's for sure.

Wario World

Wario World

Okay I only got this game because it's Wario and it had GameBoy connectivity, like a two in one. Is the game any good though? Ehhhhhhh it's alright. Upfront the game is very weird, bosses and enemies are gross and uncanny, locations are questionable at best, and Wario's face just contorts wildly. I really like this style, it's just so unique from many other games. Gameplay-wise? It's okay. There's a lot of combat in the game and it gets a bit repetetive pretty fast, even with Wario's repertoire of moves, and I suppose the platforming is okay. Plus they totally ruined the boss in the NTSC version. For me it has like one phase while Japan get's an entire boss fight like why did they take that away what did Floridians do to not deserve an actual final boss whyyyyyyyyy. Other than that, some treasures you collect allow you to connect your GBA through the link cable to play some WarioWare microgames and it's both cool and fun, totally worth the purchase.
